Interior of St. Leonard's church in the village of Lipnica Murowana.

According to some folk legends, the original church was built here in 1203 on the site of a pagan temple; a mysterious old oak pole behind the altar is said to be a last remnant of this temple. Worth a look is the painting on the wall, dated 1689 and showing the scene of Crucifixion.

The Gothic church was funded here by king Casimir the Great in 1364. Suffering from many fires, it was rebuilt a few times since. Most of its current interior (polychromies, the main altar etc.) comes from the break of 19th and 20th century.
